Shiatsu and Acupressure Massage

A healing art deeply rooted in the philosophy and based on the 5000 year old principles of Traditional Chinese Medicine.
Shiatsu/Acupressure promotes the circulation of Vital Ki (energy) in the body through the stimulation of acupressure points.  Shiatsu/Acupressure revitalizes and restores balance to your body and mind.  Shiatsu massage uses acupressure techniques, which are applied using hands, thumbs, elbows and knees.   A highly effective form of bodywork that leaves your body feeling deeply relaxed, yet fully energized.

Anma Shiatsu is a Japanese style technique following the lines of your meridians using acupressure, kneading, tapping, vibrating and stretching. This technique allows the clients to get in touch with their own healing abilities.  It is a balance – an interactive relationship between practitioner and client.
The therapist uses their body to exert pressure on the client’s meridians. Because of its many benefits, shiatsu massage is considered a very beneficial healing holistic therapy.

How does shiatsu work?
When you apply acupressure down the meridians, you release or “unblock” all negative flowing energy.  You can feel a positive energy flow almost instantaneously.
This form of treatment, (Shiatsu), calms the overactive sympathetic nervous system, improving circulation and relieving stress.   Shiatsu is based on traditional Chinese medicine, where illness is thought to result from imbalances/blockages in the natural flow of energy through the body.

Foot Reflexology Massage

Dating back to ancient Egypt, reflexology is a profoundly relaxing specific pressure and massage technique, working on precise reflex points on your feet that correspond to all organs, glands, bones, and muscles. This also works to balance the nervous system and release ‘happy hormones’, (such as endorphins), that help reduce pain and release stress.

Reflexology helps cleanse your system of toxins, improves blood circulation, and supports your body’s own healing potential. Reflexology also releases energy blocks and is especially beneficial for headaches, sinusitis, asthma, muscle tension, back pain, digestive disorders, fatigue, insomnia, and women’s health issues.

How Does Reflexology Work?

When you have an imbalance/blockage in your body, it produces a chemical that gets in the way of your natural bio-electric energy flow. When pressure is applied to the reflex points on the feet, circulation to the target areas are improved, allowing the blood to deliver more oxygen and nutrients to the cells.

Stress causes organs and glands to become overactive or underactive – reflexology helps the body to restore balance, allowing the body to heal itself.

During an effective reflexology session you should feel calm, relaxed, and in a somewhat meditative state.

Deep Tissue Massage

Deep Tissue massage is designed to relieve severe tension in the muscle and the connective tissue or fascia. This type of massage focuses on the muscles located below the surface of the top muscles.

This method is often recommended for individuals who experience consistent pain, are involved in heavy physical activity, such as athletes, and patients who have sustained physical injury.

Deep tissue massage is also used to help release chronic muscle tension using slower strokes and more direct deep pressure or friction applied across the grain of the muscles – which helps to break up and eliminate scar tissue.

A study in the Journal of Alternative and Complementary Medicine found that people’s blood pressure fell after a single deep-tissue massage. A 2010 meta-analysis in the Journal of Clinical Psychiatry found that massage modalities like deep tissue reduce stress hormone levels and heart rate while boosting mood and promoting relaxation by triggering the release of oxytocin and serotonin.

Reiki

The word Reiki is made of two Japanese words – Rei means “God’s Wisdom or the Higher Power” and Ki is “life force energy”. So Reiki is actually “spiritually guided life force energy.”

Reiki is a Japanese technique for reducing stress, promoting healing, and relaxation.  It is referred to as palm healing or hands on healing and is based on the idea that an unseen “life force energy” flows through us.  If our “life force energy” is low, we are more likely to get sick or feel stress.

Reiki is a simple, natural method of spiritual healing and self-improvement. Reiki balances the human energy fields and assists in aligning your Chakras. The Reiki practitioner assists their client to heal themselves spiritually, mentally, emotionally and physically.  Using Healing Symbols, the Reiki practitioner channels the Universal Life Force energy allowing it to flow where is needed to bring the energy centers into alignment.

Pranic Healing

Pranic healing uses Prana, Chi, Ki or simple “Energy” to facilitate the Balancing or “Healing” of one’s physical, etheric, emotional and mental bodies without touching the physical body of the client.
This energy body absorbs life energy and distributes it throughout the physical body.  Physical ailments first appear as energetic blockages in the aura before manifesting as problems in the physical body.
Energy or Prana, may be used to rebalance, align and normalize the flow of Energy within the human body.  It is the fundamental principle that the body is a self-repairing living entity.
